Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera has confirmed that he will leave the club in the summer after his current contract expires.
The 29-year old is believed to be on the verge of joining Paris Saint Germain after agreeing personal terms with the French champions.
The Basque born player joined United in 2014 from Athletic Bilbao, and has gone on to make 189 appearances for them in all competitions, scoring 20 times. During his time with the club, Herrera has won the FA Cup, League Cup, and Europa League.
United did make attempts to keep him by belatedly offering him a new deal. However, according to The BBC, he effectively priced himself out of Old Trafford by demanding a new deal in line with the club’s top earners.
In what is now the normal fashion, Herrera took to social media to announce his departure, declaring there was “red in my heart”.
He is the first confirmed departure in what is likely to be a busy summer at United.
