Toby Alderweireld wants to return some day to Ajax, the club he played for between 2008 and 2013.
His admission comes a day after he helped Tottenham dump Ajax out of the Champions League, coming from three goals down in the tie, to win the tie on the away goals rule thanks to a second half-hat trick from makeshift striker Lucas Moura.
The Belgian started his career with the Dutch side, and won three Eredivisie championships with them in more than 200 appearances, before leaving for Atlètico Madrid initially, and then subsequently Southampton, before joining Spurs in 2015.
He is under contract at White Hart Lane until 2020 after Tottenham triggered an extension to his deal, but that also activated a release clause and he can leave for £25 million. The defender has been linked with a summer move to Manchester United, meaning the Ajax return may have to be put on ice for the time being.
