Brazilian star Edu is set to return to Arsenal in the role of technical director.
The former Gunners midfielder is currently working for the Brazilian national side as team coordinator, but has agreed a deal in principle to move back to North London after the conclusion of this summer’s Copa América.
He will fill the vacancy at the club left by the departure of head of recruitment Sven Mislintat, with approaches to previous candidates for the job like Monchi and Marc Overmars having been rebuffed.
Edu was part of the Invincibles squad during the 2003 – 2004 season under Arsène Wenger, and won two league titles and two FA Cup Winners medals in his time with Arsenal, which stretched from 2001 to 2005.
Now, according to The Guardian, Edu is set to have one more meeting with Arsenal to finalise the deal, and will then sign his contract.
