Christian Eriksen has verbally agreed to join Real Madrid in the summer.
That is according to Spanish paper AS who report that the 27 year old Danish midfielder, who is out of contract in North London at the end of 2020, has agreed to the move, leaving Real to negotiate with his current employers Tottenham Hotspur.
He is unlikely to come cheap – despite the fact that he only has a year left on his current deal, a fee of £129 million has been mentioned. And the discussions with Tottenham are likely to be tough. Despite the fact that there is a recent history of big money moves between the two clubs – both Gareth Bale and Luka Modric made the same journey as that proposed for Eriksen, Real still have to negotiate with Spurs’ chairman Daniel Levy. Notoriously hard-nosed in the transfer market, Real angered him with how they publicly courted manager Mauricio Pochettino after the dismissal of Santiago Solari.
