That is according to The Daily Mail who report that the 40 year old has met vice chairman Ed Woodward to hold preliminary discussions about returning to Old Trafford to assume the role of Sporting Director.

He has also impressed as YV pundit for BT Sport, with his analytical approach suggesting a deep understanding of the game.
The Glazer family that own United have maintained a personal relationship with Ferdinand since he stopped playing, and they would also like to see him return to United in some capacity.
Ferdinand made more than 300 appearances in a United shirt in a 12 year stay with them, and won the Premier League seven times, as well as the Champions League, and the League Cup twice during his stay at the club.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
