Otamendi to leave City

Central defender Nicolás Otamendi will leave Manchester City at the end of the season, with Wolves and West Ham amongst the club’s likely to be interested in signing the 31-year old.

That is according to The Daily Star who report that the Argentinian is looking for more regular first-team football, having found himself pushed down the pecking order at City by Aymeric Laporte, Vincent Kompany, and John Stones.

Otamendi joined City from Valencia on five-year deal for a fee of £28.5 million in the summer of 2015, and has gone on to make 165 appearances for the club, scoring 8 times. Since his arrival at the Etihad he has won the Premier League, and the EFL Cup three times, and will pick up another winner’s medal if his side can withstand the challenge of Liverpool for this season’s league title.

In part his decision to leave is prompted by his need to being playing regularly as he looks to prolong his international career which, has so far, seen him win 59 senior caps for Argentina.
