Spurs have been handed a major boost with the news that Christian Eriksen is set to discuss a new deal with the club.
Linked with a summer move to Real Madrid, the 27 year old Dane, who is out of contract in 2020, had been steadfastly refusing to sign a new deal with Tottenham, indicating that his future could lie elsewhere.
Now it appears that he has had a change of mind and is prepared to enter discussions about extending his stay at White Hart Lane, although, as his manager Mauricio Pochettino has made clear, any talks will have to wait until the end of the season.
An £11 million capture from Ajax in 2013, Eriksen has made 271 appearances for Spurs in all competitions, scoring 65 goals in total. He is already the most prolific Dane in front of goal in Premier League history, and his latest effort, from 25 yards on Tuesday night, gave his side a valuable win in their hunt for a top three finish against a resolute Brighton side.
