Manchester United are ready to offer the role of Technical Director to Mike Phelan.
That is according to The Daily Mail who report that Michael Carrick could also be In line for a promotion on the coaching staff. Phelan was Sir Alex Ferguson’s right-hand man during some of United’s most successful years, during which time they won three Premier League titles, the Club World Cup, and the League Cup on two occasions. He was brought back to the club in the role of first-team coach when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed interim manager, but now looks set to be given greater responsibilities at Old Trafford, with Carrick set to effectively take his place alongside Solskjaer on the touchline.
Meanwhile, manager Solskjaer was forced to apologise to the club’s supporters after the team’s woeful showing at Everton on Sunday, where the side lost 4- 0, admitting the performance was not worthy of a United team.
