Chris Houghton’s job is under threat – even if the Brighton boss does manage to fend off relegation to the Championship this season.
Seemingly safe in mid-table at the turn of the year, the Seagulls have been on a dreadful run of form lately, dropping ever closer towards the relegation zone, with just an FA Cup semi-final to bring cheer to their fans.
Last weekend they were thrashed 5-0 at home by Bournemouth and, on Tuesday night, were beaten by the side immediately below them in the table 2- 0 at the Amex Stadium. That left the South Wales team just two points adrift, with the games starting to run out.
Now The Sun reports that Houghton, who is under contract until 2021, could be sacked by Brighton bosses anyway in the summer, irrespective of which league they will be playing in next season, although they are not prepared to move until the end of the current campaign.
