Arsenal’s January loan signing Denis Suárez has been linked with a move to their Europa League quarter-final opponents Napoli.
The Barcelona midfielder was Arsenal’s only signing in the January transfer window, agreeing a loan move until the end of the season. However, the move has not worked out as either the player or the club had hoped. He has failed to start a competitive game for the Gunners, and his appearances have been limited to a total of 67 minutes from the substitute’s bench.
He is now injured with a groin strain and is set for a spell on the side lines.
The 25-year old Suárez, who still has two years left on his current contract has failed to convince Unai Emery and his coaching team that he has the physicality to play in the Premier League, and now his agent, Felix Guende, is busy looking for other options for him after admitting that “he hasn’t been able to find a rhythm” during his spell in England.
Arsenal have an option to buy in the Suárez loan deal but look very unlikely to exercise it.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
