Spurs scout Danish defender

Tottenham have been monitoring Danish defender Joachim Anderson.

That is according to reports in Italy who suggest that the North London side had scouts in the stadium on Sunday to watch him play in the Derby della Lanterna for Sampdoria against their local rivals Genoa.

And they would have liked what they saw, as Sampdoria kept a clean sheet to win them match 2 – 0.

Bought for just £1.2 million form Dutch side FC Twente, Sampdoria are likely to realise a substantial profit on the 22-year old under-21 Danish international if they sell him in the summer, with Inter Milan also said to be interested in acquiring his services.

After a slow start to his career in Serie A, Anderson’s career has really blossomed this season and he has missed just one game all season for a top that still entertains outside hopes of securing a Europa League place.

Spurs believe he may fill the vacancy left by Toby Alderweireld if the Belgian departs the club this summer.
