West Brom preparing approach for Preston manager

Managerless West Bromwich Albion have identified the man that they want to take over at The Hawthorns.

The Telegraph reports that Preston manager Alex Neil will be given the chance to help steer the team back to the Premiership, and that an official approach for him will be made after the match on Saturday when the two sides meet.

West Brom sacked Darren Moore at the start of March, with the club fourth in the Championship table and firmly in the play-off picture, and were initially content to leave caretaker manager James Shan in charge as the team went on a winning run. However, after two successive defeats, the Albion hierarchy feel that they need an experienced pair of hands at the helm to negotiate the end of season push.

Preston may receive up to £650,000 in compensation for a manager who has been at Deepdale since July 2017.
