Liverpool are set to reward Divock Origi with a new contract.
The 23-year old Belgian, who has been at Anfield since 2015, appeared to be on his way out of the club, after spending last season on loan at Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, and barely featured in Jurgen Klopp’s pre-season plans.
However, he has since impressed with his commitment and attitude in training, and with his impact when he has played, principally used as a substitute, most noticeably when he scored the injury time winner in the Merseyside derby against Everton in December.
Now it looks like Origi, who is out of contract in 2020, will be given the chance to extend his contract with Liverpool, and he will be hoping to add to his total of first-team minutes during Liverpool’s title run-in, having appeared in seven of the side’s last nine Premier League games.
