Jan Siewert will remain as boss of Huddersfield Town, despite the team’s relegation to the Championship.
Saturday’s defeat at Crystal Palace, combined with victories for Burnley and Southampton, confirmed that the team would be playing in the Championship again, after two seasons in the elite league.
There were suggestions that Siewert, who was only appointed as manager in January following the departure of fellow German would be dismissed, following reports of dressing room unrest, with several senior players at the club unhappy about their lack of playing time.
However, the team’s owner Dean Hoyle has quashed any talk about Siewert being replaced, insisting that the 36-year old is the best man for the job of rebuilding the side. He said “The Board of Directors is fully behind Jan as the man to take us forward”.
Siewert took over Huddersfield when they were bottom of the Premier League and things have scarcely improved under his stewardship, with eight of the nine games he has been in charge lost.
