Mohamed Elneny set to leave Arsenal in the summer

Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny is set to leave Arsenal in the summer – with Beşiktaş a potential destination.

Elneny has seen his first-team opportunities with Arsenal dramatically reduced since the arrival of Unai Emery as manager, and has made just 153 minutes of Premier League football this season, with most of his appearances confined to the Europa League and the domestic cup competitions. Emery has chosen instead to deploy Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi in central midfield, and, with little prospect of that changing, it is time for Elneny to look for opportunities elsewhere.

Beşiktaş have reportedly made enquiries about his availability, and could be set to launch a bid for him when the summer window opens.

For their part, Arsenal are looking to reduce their wage bill as they seek to free up further funds for transfers, and getting Elneny off their books would be a step in the right direction.
