Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet wants to leave Liverpool in the summer.
The 31-year old Belgian international is becoming increasingly frustrated by his situation at Anfield where he has been forced to play second fiddle behind Alisson Becker all season. He has not started a single Premier League game since the Brazilian’s arrival last summer, and has had to be content with just two cup appearances so far this season.
A £9 million summer capture from Sunderland, Mignolet has played more than 200 games for Liverpool and was first choice until the second part of last season, when Jurgen Klopp opted for Loris Karius instead.
After the German’s howlers in the Champions League final, any hopes that Klopp would once again entrust he goalkeeping gloves to Karius again were dashed, when Allison was signed from Roma for £72 million.
Liverpool though may be reluctant to let Mignolet leave. He still has two years left on his contract, and there is no obvious number two goalkeeper at the club unless they sign a suitable replacement.
