Marcos Rojo training with home-town club

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo is training with Estudiantes in his native Argentina – with the full permission of his employers at Old Trafford.

The 29-year old has not featured for the United first-team since their Champions League defeat away to Valencia in December, and has only made three senior appearances for them this season.

Rojo, who has two years left on his contract, has been frozen out at Old Trafford since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed interim manager in December, with Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof his preferred centre-back partnership.

Now, according to Sky Sports, comes the clearest sign yet that Rojo could be set to depart Old Trafford in the summer, with his return, on a temporary basis at least, to the club which he first joined as a ten year old.  He went on to make 53 senior appearances for them before moving to Europe, first briefly with Spartak Moscow, and then to Sporting Lisbon.

He signed for United from Sporting in August 2014, in a deal worth £16 million.
