Serie A side Lazio are on the verge of signing a pre-contract agreement with Liverpool full-back Alberto Moreno.
That is according to Independent, who report that Moreno is set to join the Italian side in the summer, ending his 5-year stay at Anfield.
Moreno moved to Liverpool from Sevilla in August 2014, but, after being first choice left-back with the team for the first two seasons, has found himself increasingly marginalised by the emergence of Scottish captain, Andy Robertson. He has only started two league games for them this season, as well as making two appearances in domestic cup competitions.
Now Moreno is hoping that he can follow in the footsteps of two other ex-Liverpool players. Both Lucas Leiva and Luis Alberto moved to Lazio from Merseyside, and have since seen their careers enjoy a renaissance in the Italian capital.
He will also be hoping that the move can reignite his international aspirations, and that he will get the chance to add to the four full Spanish caps he has already won.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
