Manchester United have emerged as favourites to sign Atlético Madrid Antoine Griezmann.
The French international and World Cup winner wants to leave Atlético this summer, having become frustrated with the team’s lack of trophy success. Now United have emerged as the front-runners to sign him, although they face stiff competition from clubs such a s Bayern Munich and PSG.
The 27-year old was closely linked with a move to Barcelona in the close season last summer, but eventually turned that move down and chose to extend his contract with Diego Simeone’s men. However, following the club’s exit from the Champions League at the hands of Juventus, he is now regretting that decision, especially as Atlético have been knocked out of the Copa del Rey and are unlikely to overhaul Barcelona at the top of the league.
Having felt that promises made to him of playing in a winning team have been betrayed, Griezmann now wants to try pastures new.
