Wes Morgan signs new Leicester contract

Leicester captain Wes Morgan has signed a one-year extension with the club.

The 35-year old was out of contract in the summer, but now he is set to stay at the King Power Stadium until June 2020 at the least.

Morgan joined the club from Nottingham Forest in 2012, and has since gone on to play for them nearly 300 times, famously captaining them to the Premier League title under Claudio Ranieri in the 2015 – 2016 season. He also became only one of a handful of outfield players to feature in every game of a championship-winning campaign that year.

He played his 700th club game for Leicester at Burnley on Saturday, and marked the occasion in fitting style, heading the winning goal in the last minute. That was despite his side playing for almost the entire match with ten men after Harry McGuire was sent off for a professional foul as early as the 4th minute.
