Sarri future again in doubt

Maurizio Sarri’s future as Chelsea manager has again been thrown in doubt.

That is following his side’s disappointing defeat at Everton on the weekend, which meant that his team failed to close the gap on the two sides above them in the Premier League table, Arsenal and Manchester United, in the race for fourth.

Now speculation has started that the club hierarchy may use the international break as an opportunity to make a change at the helm.

Sarri again raised doubts over his ability to motivate the team, suggesting that the team had a “mental block” and suggesting that they had reached their current “limit”.

This is not the first time that the 60-year old Italian’s future at the club has been called into question. He faced intense scrutiny following the EFL Cup Final and the one-man player rebellion staged by goalkeeper Kepa, but rode that out, and the club’s run to the Quarter-Finals of the Europa League appeared to have bought him some time.
