Liverpool have asked RB Leipzig to keep them up to date with the situation regarding forward Timo Werner.
The 23-year old German international has infuriated Leipzig officials by agreeing a deal to move to Bayern Munich, despite there having been no formal discussions between the two clubs. And, with Werner still contracted with them until June 2020, they have no intention of permitting him to run down his contract, and depart on a free Bosman transfer at the end.
Liverpool are now looking to capitalise on the situation by making a summer approach for Werner who has 23 senior international caps for his country, with the suggestion that Leipzig would be prepared to sell him in the summer to any club except Bayern.
Since joining them from Stuttgart in 2016 for what was a club record fee of €10 million (£9 million), Werner has made 102 appearances for them and scored 56 times.
