The bitter fall-out of the abortive transfer of Emiliano Sala has taken a fresh and nasty twist.
With much of the spotlight since Sala, who died en route to Cardiff from Nantes in a small single engine plane chartered by one of the agents involved in the deal, much of the attention has shifted to the rule that the agent in question, Willie McKay, and his son Mark played in the whole saga.
That has sparked a very public row between all the parties involved in the deal – Nantes, Cardiff City, and the McKays – which has promoted FIFA to launch a formal investigation.
Now things appear to have gone one stage further, with news that threats have been made to “kill” certain Cardiff officials, with the Daily Telegraph reporting that the sources of the threats was Willie McKay himself. South Wales Police have launched a formal investigation, and formal witness statements have been provided to them.
