Midfielder Ander Herrera is ready to sign a new three-year deal with the club.

The 29-year old Spaniard, who is out of contract in the summer, looked to be likely to leave Old Trafford after talks about signing a new deal appeared to stall. However, according to The Sun, there has been a turn-around in the situation, and he is now ready to commit his immediate future to the club on terms which are not dissimilar to his current package.

It is more proof of the turnaround behind the scenes at United since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer succeeded Jose Mourinho in December, with Anthony Martial, Ashley Young, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling all penning new deals in recent weeks.

Herera, who was in and out of the team under his predecessor, is one of the players who has blossomed under Solskjaer’s tutelage, and is now firmly established in their midfield. It was his header from Paul Pogba’s cross that gave them the lead in their latest victory, the FA Cup defeat of Chelsea on Monday.
