Stoke will try and sell striker Saido Berahino after the 25-year old was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning on suspicion of drunk-driving by the police.
Although the ex-England under-21 international pleaded in mitigation that he was trying to escape a gang who had already grabbed his watch and were trying to steal his car, that cut little ice with Stoke, as the Mail Online report. They do not understand what he was doing in London at that time anyway, given that he was supposed to be preparing for an under-23 game later that evening, and have find him 2 weeks’ wages, and will try and find a buyer for him as soon as the transfer window opens.
Once viewed as one of the brightest young talents in English football, Berahino has failed to live up to that promise due to a series of off-the-field problems, which have included going on strike at West Brom and picking up an 8-wek ban from football after failing a drugs test. He has scarcely cleaned-up his act since his £12 million move to Stoke, and was banished to the under-23 squad by previous boss Paul Lambert because he was consistently late, and under-performed in training.
