Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is considering leaving Leicester City because he is not happy with the management style of Claude Puel.
That is according to The Mirror, who report remarks made by Schmeichel’s father Peter, Manchester United goalkeeping legend, that his son is unhappy at the club where he won the Premier League because of Puel’s emphasis on playing defensive football which has left both playing staff and fans unimpressed alike.
Supporters have been bemused by the decision to leave main striker Jamie Vardy on the bench in recent weeks in favour of the untried Harvey Barnes, but were equally surprised when Vardy, brought on as a substitute against Spurs at Wembley on Saturday, was allowed to take a penalty, taking the ball out of the hands of James Maddison who was about to take the spot kick. Vardy subsequently had his penalty saved.
Schmeichel said that his son was likely to stay in England if he leaves saying “I think he loves England too much, I think he likes the Premier League too much, so it’s a difficult one.”
However, Puel may leave the club before Schmeichel. He is currently third favourite to get the managerial sack after Maurizio Sarri and Everton’s Marco Silva.
