Ashley Young set to sign contract extension

Ashley Young looks set to be the next Manchester United player to sign a new contract with the club.

The 33-year old has been in ongoing discussions with the club for some months and now, according to The Daily Telegraph, will soon set pen to paper on a 12-month contract extension tying him to the Old Trafford side until the summer of 2020, reports Sky Sports.

The former Watford player joined United in 2011 from Aston Villa, and has made 227 senior appearances for the club, helping them win the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and Europa League during his time in Manchester.

Starting out as a winger, he has more recently been deployed as a full-back and has assumed the captaincy of the side under both Jose Mourinho and, more recently Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with Antonio Valencia now out of favour and seemingly on his way out of the club.
