Bayern Munich have intimated that they will resume their pursuit of young Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi in the summer.
The German champions made three bids for the 18-year old during the transfer window, with their latest offering totalling £35 million. Chelsea refused to sell one of their brightest stars, despite the player trying to force the issue by handing in a transfer request.
However, the issue is not going to go away. Hudson-Odoi has turned down the offer of a new deal at Chelsea worth £85,000 a week, and the club’s decision to drop him for handing in the transfer request has not gone down well with the player and his representatives, nor manager Maurizio Sarri’s comments that Hudson-Odoi should “respect the club’s academy”.
Now Bayern have had their say and made it obvious that the winger still features in their future plans. Chairman Karl Heinz Rummenige said ““We want to have the best quality of players at Bayern and Hasan [Salihamidzic, director] is totally convinced of this player. That’s the reason. The only thing that Hasan would have been happy to finish was this player from Chelsea, because he had practically fallen in love with this player on account of his quality.”
