Sam Vokes is likely to leave for Stoke City, with veteran Peter Crouch heading the other way to Burnley.
That is according to Sky Sports, with separate reports indicating that the deal is increasing likely to happen before the transfer deadline expires.
Stoke, under new manager Nathan Jones, have been keen to add to their attacking options, and view Vokes as the type of player they need to spearhead a promotion push. At the same time, they have been looking to get some of the highest earners off their payroll, one of whom is 37-year old Crouch.
Although Welsh international Vokes usually has to be content with a place on the bench at Burnley, with Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes mainly preferred In attack by manager Sean Dyche, the club were unwilling to sell him, without having somebody to replace him.
Whilst Crouch may not fit the exact sort of profile of play that Dyche was looking for, because of his style of play and age, the fact that Stoke are ready to pay a fee as well for Vokes is likely to make the deal go through.
