Callum Hudson-Odoi is set to stay at Chelsea – at least until the end of the season.
The 18-year old, who has been the subject of several transfer bids from Bayern Munich, handed in a transfer request over the weekend, to try and force a move to the Bundesliga, where he believes that he will have more first-team opportunities.
Chelsea are reluctant to sell him and now, according to The Daily Mail, after meetings between Chelsea managing director, Marina Granovskaia, and the player’s representatives, it has been agreed that he will stay at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season.
However, the player has not signed the new contract on offer to him, worth a reputed £80,000, and is still expected to join Bayern when the summer window opens again.
In making this decision, Chelsea are aware that they are allowing the value of their asset to depreciate. Bayern were willing to pay up to £40 million for the player, but that figure will drop in the summer, because Hudson-Odoi will be closer to the end of his current contract which expires in 2020.
