Newcastle United have completed their first signing of the transfer window, agreeing a loan deal with Serie A side Lazio to take left-back Jordan Lukaku for the rest of the season.
That is according to The Guardian who report that Newcastle also have the option to buy Lukaku at the end of the season, for an undisclosed fee.
The younger brother of Manchester United star Romelu, Lukaku, like his older sibling, began his career in his native Belgium with Anderlecht, before switching to Oostende, where he played so well that he fought his way into the Belgian national side.
It also earned him a move to Lazio in the summer of 2016 for a fee of around £4 million, and he has since gone on to make more than 50 Serie A performances for the Roman club. However, he missed the start of this season with a knee injury, and has since largely been confined to substitute appearances.
Lukaku may make his debut for his new club at home to Watford in the FA Cup on Saturday.
