Everton have rejected an approach for Paris Saint Germain for midfielder Idrissa Gueye, and are considering reporting the French club to UEFA for making an illegal approach to him.
PSG have long been an admirer of the Senegal international midfielder, and, according to reports in France have made a formal bid of £25 million for him. Everton, however, dispute this interpretation of events, according to The Daily Mirror, and insist that there has been no formal approach for the player. They are also adamant that, even if an offer is made, they have no intention of selling the 29-year old defensive midfielder for such a low fee.
Gueye signed for Everton from Aston Villa for a fee of £7 million in 2016, and is under contract with the club until 2022. Manager Marco Silva regards Gueye as an integral part of his side, and believe it would be impossible to replace him if he were sold so late in the transfer window.
