Matteo Darmian may complete his long-awaited move back to Italy from Manchester United this week.
That is according to The Daily Mail who report that although United have yet to receive a formal proposal, that he may still move to Juventus on loan in the next few days.
The Italian international arrived at Old Trafford for a fee close to £13 million from Tornio in July 2015, but has never really managed to secure a regular first-team berth at United, and has made just 59 Premier League appearances in three and a half seasons with the club.
He now finds himself competing with three other players – Ashley Young, Diego Dalot, and Antonio Valencia – for the right-back spot under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and accepts that his chances of more starts with the club are becoming increasingly less likely.
The 29-year old was widely linked with a move back to Italy last summer but proposed deals failed to materialise at the time. However, this time it looks like he is finally set to leave United.
