Former Chelsea and Arsenal full-back Ashley Cole is set to join Derby County on a short-term deal for the rest of the season.
That is according to The Daily Mirror who reports that Cole is expected to have a medical on Monday and then join Derby on loan for the rest of the season on wages reported to be around £10,000 a week. His move will see him re-united with former Chelsea team mate, Derby manager Frank Lampard who believes that his side will benefit from the experience and professionalism that Cole will bring, whilst the full-back will get the chance to take the first steps on his coaching career.
Capped 107 times for England, Cole has spent the last 4 years in America playing for LA Galaxy, but, after captaining the side last season was released from his contract in November after his side failed to reach the MLS play-offs.
