Anthony Martial is on the brink of signing a new five-year deal at Manchester United.
That is according to Sky Sports who report that the long-running saga surrounding Martial’s contract is set to be resolved with the Frenchman ready to commit his long-term future to the Old Trafford side.
It is further indication how the whole “mood music” has changed at United since Jose Mourinho was sacked and replaced with interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Mourinho was prepared to sell Martial in the summer, and criticised the player when he returned last to the club’s pre-season tour of the United States following the birth of his child. He later changed his mind after Martial found the net in a number of high profile games, but there was still uncertainty on the side of the player and his representatives about signing a new deal.
However, he has started every game in the Premier League for United, scoring against Cardiff and putting in impressive performances in the following games, and now looks set to sign his new deal.
