Gonzalo Higuain is expected to fly to London over the next few days in time to complete his loan move to Chelsea, and is expected to arrive in time to be available to play in the Carabao Cup semi-final return leg against Spurs at Stamford Bridge on Thursday.
Higuain is set to sign on loan until the end of the season, with a report in The Sun suggesting that the deal which has been struck means that Chelsea will be obliged to extend the loan for the whole of next season as well if certain goal scoring and team performance milestones are met.
At the same time, there is also thought to be a clause for Chelsea to buy the forward outright in the summer if they choose to do so.
The 31-year old Argentine is currently on loan with AC Milan, but it is his parent club, Juventus, that Chelsea have primarily had to negotiate with in order to get the deal over the line.
