Arsenal may lose their head of recruitment Sven Mislintat to Bayern Munich before the end of the month.
Mislintat’s capture by the Gunners from Borussia Dortmund was regarded as a major coup by former Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis but, after barely a year in the job, he may be set to leave.
That is following reports of disharmony behind the scenes at The Emirates, with tensions between him and the club’s new head of football, former Barcelona executive Raul Sanllehi, with his recommendations for new players apparently being ignored.
At the same time, manager Unai Emery, who was meant to take a back seat when it comes to transfers, is more actively engaged than was originally intended.
Mislintat was rumoured to be in line for a promotion to the role of Technical Director at Arsenal, but those rumours have died down, with separate reports emerging that former Arsenal player, Edu, currently working with the Brazilian FA, may be handed an operational role with the club.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
