Japanese international Shinji Okazaki wants to leave Leicester in the current transfer window because of a lack of game time under manager Claude Puel.
That is according to Sky Sports who quote an interview that Okazaki gave recently to Japanese media saying “”I can’t feel satisfied as a player. After three-and-a-half years, maybe it’s time to move on.
“I have no intention of quarrelling with the team, but I will make my feelings known.”
However, Leicester may be reluctant to let leave because they are short of back-up to Jamie Vardy in forward positions, and the club’s other main striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, has not found the net for the club since September.
Okazaki was part of the squad that won the Premier League in 2015 – 2016, and has scored 19 goals in 128 appearances for The Foxes. He would prefer to stay in Europe if he does leave because he wants to earn a place in Japan’s World Cup squad for Qatar 2022. He currently has 116 senior caps for his country.
