Chelsea are considering making a shock move to buy back defender Nathan Aké in the summer.
The Stamford Bridge side only sold Aké to Bournemouth for £20 million, 18 months ago, a club record fee for the South Coast side. However, according to The Sun, the deal included a buy-back option, which Chelsea are thinking of buying, because they regard the 23-year old as one of the best defenders in the Premier League, although it will cost them £40 million to do so – double his sale price.
Manager Mauricio Sarri is looking to strengthen his defence in the summer with Gary Cahill set to depart, even if he does not leave in this window, and David Luiz out of contract.
They may face competition for the Dutch international though, with Tottenham and both Manchester clubs said to be monitoring his situation. Ironically enough, although he is best known as a defender, Aké himself regards himself as a defensive midfielder.
