Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to make any signings in January according to manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Spurs were the only club in Europe’s top 5 leagues not to sign any new players in the summer, and now it looks probable that there will be no new arrivals this month either.
Pochettino was asked about transfers after his side demolished Tranmere Rovers in the third round of the FA Cup 7 – 0 on Friday night, their biggest win in a competitive fixture in their history, dating back to 1882. He told the media “”I don’t believe that we are going to do anything “, and “I’m so happy with my squad”.
Of course the elephant in the room is the new White Hart Lane stadium, which is now nearly six months overdue in terms of completion and some £300 over budget, although Pochettino is too loyal to directly imply that the budget over-runs have had any effect in terms of the funds available to him in the transfer market.
