Henry wants Fabregas reunion at Monaco

Monaco manager Thierry Henry is looking to sign Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas in the January transfer window.

The 31-year old Spaniard is becoming increasingly frustrated at his lack of playing time under Mauricio Sarri at Stamford Bridge, and a move to Monaco and a reunion with former Arsenal team mate Henry may well be tempting for him. For their part Monaco find themselves in a relegation fight in Ligue 1, and are looking for experienced reinforcements to secure the points they need to begin climbing the table once football in France resumes after the winter break.

However, according to The Daily Mail, one stumbling block may be the insistence of Sarri that the club sign a replacement if Fabregas is allowed to leave, with the Italian manager saying “In this position we have only Jorginho and Fabregas and it would be a very big problem to be without Cesc. I want him to stay.

‘If Cesc will go, then I think we need to buy another player, and it’s not easy because technically Cesc is a very important player, and it’s very difficult to find in the market a player with these characteristics.”

Despite this, with Fabregas out of contract at the end of the season, Chelsea may be tempted to sell him now and get some funds for him rather than allow him to leave for free at the end of June.
