Juventus warn Manchester clubs off Douglas Costa

Serie A Champions and run-away league leaders Juventus have sent a strong message to both Manchester clubs, City and United, that Brazilian winger Douglas Costa is not for sale in the January window.

That is according to CalcioMercato who report that the Old Lady is not prepared to sell the 28-year old in the forthcoming month given the club’s dual ambitions in Serie A and the Champions League.

Costa joined Juventus from Bayern Munich, initially on loan in July 2017, with the club making the deal permanent a year later. He has, however, struggled for regular game time under Massimiliano Allegri, and has been mainly used as an impact player from the bench.

Earlier this season he attracted headlines for the wrong reasons when he was sent off and received a subsequent four match ban after clashing with Sassuolo player Frederico Di Francesco, first elbowing him, then following up with a head-butt, before compounding his sins by spitting in his opponent’s face.

Costa is a current Brazil international with 31 caps to his name.
