Scottish Champions Celtic have been linked with a January move for Belgian international right-back Timothy Castagne, currently playing his football in Italy with Serie A side Atalanta.
That is according to The Daily Mail who report that Celtic have already made a £6 million bid to bring Castagne to Parkhead, regarding him as a long-term replacement for Mikael Lustig, who has been linked with a move back to his native Sweden and AIK Stockholm.
Castagne began his career in Belgium with Genk before moving to Italy in July 2017. However, after a promising start, his first team appearances this season have been limited, and he has made just 2 Serie A appearances. Having made two appearances for the Belgian national side, he wants to add to his haul of caps, but needs to be playing regular first team football if he is to force his way into national manager Roberto Martinez’s plans.
Despite this, Atalanta reportedly do not want to sell the 23-year old who is under contract until 2020.
