Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega is said to be on the verge of a January move to Arsenal.
That is according to reports in the player’s native Argentina, who report that Banega is set for a reunion with Unai Emery who was his manager when the Spaniard was in charge of the Serie A side.
Separate reports have suggested that the player’s agent is already in London to negotiate the transfer, with Arsenal set to trigger his release clause of €20 million (£18 million).
Banega began his career with Boca Juniors before initially moving to Europe with Valencia where he first came into contact with Emery. He then followed Emery to Sevilla, where he was part of the side that won the Europa League in 2015 and 2016.
Renowned as an intelligent playmaker, Banega is known for his quick feet, dribbling and accurate passing, and can play in a variety of midfield positions.
