West Ham midfielder jack Wilshere could be set to miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury.
The 26-year old only joined West Ham in the summer, but now the injury problems that have blighted so much of his career seemed to have returned to haunt him, having made just 5 Premier League appearances for the club.
He played just 5 minutes of his latest match against Newcastle United last month, only to limp off with an ankle injury, and now faces surgery which could rule him out for the remainder of the current campaign, reports The Sun.
Wilshere joined The Hammers from Arsenal on a free transfer in the summer, leaving the Gunners after 17 years at the club because they were not prepared to guarantee him regular football. He made nearly 200 times for Arsenal but missed out on many more appearances because of his recurrent injury problems.
