Manchester City may be ready to make a £50 million bid for Leicester City and England full-back Ben Chilwell in the January transfer window.
This is despite having spent £52 million to sign Benjamin Mendy from Monaco 16 months ago, who was supposed to be the answer to their left-back problem.
However, he has rarely played due to a series of injuries, starting just 16 games, and he is ruled out of action again now due to a problem with his left knee and will not return until late February. He has also been warned by manager Pep Guardiola to restrict his social media activity, whilst there have been several off-the-field disciplinary actions with the French international as well.
21-year old Chilwell, who came through the ranks at Leicester, has had an excellent season so far which has seen him breakthrough to the senior England squad. He signed a new deal with The Foxes just 2 months ago committing himself to Leicester until 2014 but, according to The Mirror, that is unlikely to deter City from pursuing their interest.
