Spurs have been linked with a move in January for Real Madrid attacking midfielder Marco Asencio, with Mauricio Pochettino keen to strengthen his squad after failing to buy anyone in the summer window.
That is according to Spanish outlet Marca who claim that Spurs have already made an approach for the 22-year old which has been turned down, and the player is determined to try and succeed at Real. Asencio, along with a number of his team mates has endured a difficult start to the season following the summer upheaval which saw the departure of Zinedine Zidane as manager, and the move of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, and has struggled to find the form that saw him ranked as one of the brightest stars in Europe in his position.
Liverpool are also keep tabs on the former Mallorca player, and with both Premier League clubs now having ensured qualification to the knock-out stages of the Champions League, they are more attractive potential destinations for transfer targets in January.
