David Luiz may seek move away from Chelsea

Chelsea defender David Luiz may seek a move away from Chelsea next summer.

The Brazilian international will be in the last six months of his contract in January, which means that he is free to begin discussions with foreign clubs about a potential transfer next summer.

Chelsea want to keep him but their transfer policy on players aged over 30 means that they are only prepared to offer him a one-year deal, whilst Luiz is looking for a longer-term arrangement.

Luiz, whose looping header helped Chelsea secure a vital 2 – 0 win at home to Manchester City on Saturday is in his second spell at Stamford Bridge and, having previously struggled for game time under former manager Antonio Conté, has found himself restored to the heart of the Blue’s defence under Maurizio Sarri.

Both player and club want Luiz to stay in West London reports The Guardian, but one side or the other may have to be prepared to blink if it is not allowed to walk away for free at the end of next June.
