Danny Welbeck to leave Arsenal on free transfer

Danny Welbeck will be allowed to leave Arsenal on a free transfer next summer.

The 28-year old England forward is out of contract in June, and, as with Aaron Ramsey, the club have decided against offering him a new contract. According to The Mirror, the decision has been taken in order to free up space in the Arsenal first team club for 18-year old Reiss Nelson, who is currently on loan with German side Hoffenheim.

Nelson has made an immediate impact in Germany, scoring 6 goals in 14 appearances, and is highly prized by Arsenal as one of their brightest young talents, who Unai Emery wants to promote to the first team squad when he returns from his season long loan.

That means that Welbeck, who is currently out of action with a serious ankle injury which he sustained in the Europa League against Sporting Lisbon, may never put on an Arsenal shirt again.
