Ashley hopes to complete sale of Newcastle before January

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is hopeful that he can complete the sale of the club before January.

This follows confirmation from the controversial businessman that he is considering 4 bids of over £300 million, all of them from overseas groups, for his shares in the club that he has owned for more than 11 years.

According to BT Sport, potential bidders include investors from the United States, the Middle East and Turkey, as well as a consortium headed by former Manchester United chief executive, Peter Kenyon.

The news is sure to gladden the hearts of many of the club’ s supporters who have become disenchanted with Ashley’s perceived lack of interest in the club, and failure to provide manager Rafa Benitez with meaningful funds to spend on transfers. That has seen them publicly protest against Ashley at a number of home matches, suggesting that all parties will be happy to bring his regime at the club to an end.
